Enhanced Bodywork

CBD Massage in Newberg

Therapeutic massage enhanced with topical CBD oil for deeper muscle relief and joint comfort. Available as a standalone session or add-on at Oregon Massage & Spa.

What a CBD Massage Actually Is

A CBD massage is a standard therapeutic massage that uses a topical hemp-derived CBD oil as the glide medium instead of plain lotion. The hands-on bodywork is the treatment; the oil is what your therapist's hands move through. A 60-minute session runs $100 at our Newberg clinic, and you can also add CBD oil to any massage on the menu for $20 to $30. The benefit you feel comes from the massage itself — the manipulation of soft tissue — not from any drug effect of the oil.

We want to be honest about that distinction, because the marketing around CBD often is not. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health describes massage therapy as manipulating the soft tissues of the body to manage a health condition or enhance wellness, and notes that national survey data show 10.9 percent of U.S. adults used massage therapy in 2022, more than double the 4.8 percent who used it two decades earlier. That growing evidence base is about massage. Topical CBD is a comfort and preference choice layered on top.

At Oregon Massage & Spa we have been working on bodies in Newberg since 2008, and we added CBD oil only when our regulars started asking for it by name. Our therapists apply it over the areas where you carry the most tension — shoulders, lower back, hips, knees — and work the surrounding tissue the same way they would in any deep or relaxation session. There is no strong smell and no greasy residue.

What CBD Adds to Your Massage

Muscle Soreness

The hands-on massage works overworked muscles, and clients often tell us a session with CBD oil added feels just as soothing as their usual deep work.

Joint Stiffness

Slow, focused work around stiff knees, shoulders, and hips is the part that helps mobility; the CBD oil is simply the glide medium we use to do it.

Localized Tension

Stubborn knots and trigger points respond to sustained manual pressure. We apply the oil directly over those areas so the hands-on work stays comfortable.

Post-Workout Recovery

Athletes and active clients book massage to ease the tightness that follows hard training. CBD oil is a popular add-on choice for that recovery session.

Everyday Aches

If you sit at a desk all week or do physical work, a 60- or 90-minute massage targets the low-grade aches that build up. CBD oil can be layered on top.

Relaxation

The deepest effect of any massage is the relaxation response itself. A quiet room, steady pressure, and an unhurried hour do most of the work.

CBD Massage Pricing in Newberg

If you would rather keep your usual massage and simply swap in CBD oil, the add-on runs $20 to $30. Prices below are current as of 2026 and apply to single sessions.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your session looks like any other massage at our clinic, start to finish. Here is the order a CBD appointment usually follows so there are no surprises:

  1. 1. Quick intake. Your licensed therapist asks where you are sore, what pressure you like, and whether you have any skin sensitivities before the oil goes on. This takes two or three minutes.
  2. 2. Settle in. You undress to your comfort level and lie under the sheet. The room is quiet and warm, with soft music — the kind of calm environment that lets the body shift into a relaxed state.
  3. 3. The bodywork. For 30, 60, or 90 minutes your therapist works the tissue with the CBD oil as the glide, focusing on the areas you flagged. You can ask for more or less pressure at any time.
  4. 4. Wind down. You rest for a moment, sit up slowly, and drink some water. Most clients feel loose and a little sleepy, which is normal after a full session.

What the Evidence Says About Massage

We will not make health claims about the CBD oil, because the research on topical CBD is still thin and we are not going to overstate it. What does have a real body of evidence is the massage. The NCCIH summarizes the science as measured: a 2013 review of 12 studies with 757 participants found massage was more helpful for neck and shoulder pain than inactive therapies, though the benefits for shoulder pain were short-term, and a 2014 evaluation of 9 studies and 404 participants found that massage continued for at least 5 weeks improved pain in people with fibromyalgia. The word researchers keep using is "may help," and so do we.

The clearest, most consistent effect is on stress and mood. Mayo Clinic Press notes that researchers find massage releases endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, can lower the heart rate, and is associated with a decrease in stress chemicals such as cortisol. Several studies suggest people report improved overall well-being after a session. Whether or not you choose CBD oil, that relaxation response is the dependable part of the hour.

One caveat both sources stress: massage should not replace conventional medical care. If you have a specific condition, tell your doctor you are using massage and keep up your standard treatment. Our licensed therapists will also tell you, plainly, when CBD is not the right call for what you came in for.

Aftercare and Who It Suits

Aftercare is simple. Drink water, move gently, and give yourself the rest of the evening to settle. If you booked a deeper session, a little soreness for a day is normal — the same mild ache you would feel after a good workout. A warm shower and staying hydrated handle most of it.

CBD massage suits people who already enjoy bodywork and are curious about the oil, athletes who want a recovery session after training, and desk workers carrying neck and shoulder tension. It is not a fit if you have a known allergy to hemp or carrier oils, so tell us first. If you are pregnant, we steer you toward our dedicated prenatal massage rather than CBD, and we keep that session conservative by design.

Why Choose Oregon Massage & Spa?

We have been doing massage in Newberg since 2008 — long enough to remember the pre-CBD era, the Lavender wave, and every other wellness fad in between. We only added CBD when our regulars started asking for it and continued asking after trying it. Our CBD oil is third-party COA-tested, hemp-derived (legal in all 50 states), and sourced from Oregon-licensed producers. Available as a standalone session ($100+) or as a $20–$30 add-on layered onto Swedish or deep tissue. Your therapist will tell you whether CBD is actually a fit for what you came in for — we are not in the business of upselling for upselling's sake.

CBD Massage FAQ

Will CBD massage make me feel high?

No. The CBD oil used in massage therapy is derived from hemp and contains less than 0.3% THC, which is not enough to produce any psychoactive effects. You will feel relaxed from the massage itself, but CBD does not alter your mental state. It works locally on the skin and muscles where it is applied.

What kind of CBD products do you use?

We use third-party tested, topical CBD oil formulated specifically for massage therapy. Our products are applied directly to the skin during your session and are designed to absorb into the muscles and joints for localized relief. We are happy to share product details with you before your appointment.

Who should consider CBD massage?

CBD massage is a good fit for anyone dealing with sore muscles, stiff joints, or general tension that has not fully responded to regular massage alone. Clients recovering from workouts, managing arthritis discomfort, or dealing with everyday aches often notice a difference with CBD added to their session.

Is CBD massage legal in Oregon?

Yes. Hemp-derived CBD products with less than 0.3% THC are fully legal in Oregon and throughout the United States. Oregon actually has some of the most established regulations around hemp and CBD products, so you can feel confident about the quality and legality of what we use in our sessions.

Can I request CBD oil as an add-on to any massage type?

Yes. CBD oil can be incorporated into most massage styles we offer, including Swedish, deep tissue, and sports massage. Just let us know when you book or at the start of your session that you would like CBD oil added. Your therapist will work it into the treatment seamlessly.
